My parents came out in early December for a quick visit. It was a reschedule of a visit they had planned in early October, but my grandma got sick and they had to cancel.
It was a pretty relaxed weekend. Friday night Matthew was in Boulder for the Symplified holiday party, while I stayed in down in Golden to get my parents at the airport and grab a quick bite to eat with them.
Saturday we got up and went to Evergreen, CO, to Luckylure Christmas Trees to get our, duh, Christmas tree (a 6-foot Colorado pinon pine). We had breakfast in Evergreen at a nice little spot called Lakeshore Cafe. Later that afternoon my mom and I headed to Colorado Mills Mall for a little shopping while Matthew and my dad went to the Tattered Cover to peruse books.
Matthew made homemade biscuits and gravy on Sunday, and we headed over to the Denver Museum of Art. Matthew and I had never been there before. The museum was great, with lots of interesting art (my favorite was the red fox installation in the modern art section). There are so many cool tourist-type things in Denver we never get out to do, DMA one of them, but they're so worth it.
We capped it off with lunch at Mad Greens (which gave us food poisoning, but that's another post), before taking my folks back to the airport. We'll see them in just two short weeks for Christmas!
