So, we found out on December 10th that a child in Ian's daycare had Whooping Cough (pertussis). The child was in the 2-year-old classroom. The babies spend time with the 1-year-olds, who in turn spend time with the 2-year-olds, so they couldn't assure us Ian hadn't been exposed. The following Monday we found out Ian had been exposed to Strep, and the next day Bronchiolitis.OK, time to call the

The air is dry in Denver, and it's wreaking havoc on Ian's scalp. Doctor says it's not cradle cap, but just a good old case of dry scalp. So, until we can use conditioner on his hair, we have to periodically rub olive oil into his hair, let it sit (aka "marinate the baby") and wash it out. Does the trick nicely!

A large wildfire broke out near Boulder yesterday. I had gone up to Boulder for breakfast with some of the MBA ladies. Richard and Judy came out to visit us the first part of Labor Day Weekend. We had a very nice visit with them, and even found time to get in a lovely hike at Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space in Evergreen. I went back to work on July 15, which was Ian's first day in daycare. He's at a KinderCare, and so far we are very happy with his teachers and experience! Miss Laurie is great, and all the other teachers were excited for his first day. I managed to keep it together that first day and shed only a few tears, but don't get me wrong - leaving your child is HARD. Good to know Ian's in great hands.

Between Christmas and New Year's Matthew and I tackled painting the nursery. The walls were already a soft pastel green, but we opted to paint the room a brighter green and yellow. My in-laws were in town the weekend of August 1st for a little mountain relaxation and outdoor fun. Throughout all the finishing school, starting work, graduating, buying a house mess we suffered a great loss. Our guinea pig, Alice, got very sick unexpectedly and on April 29th we had to have her put to sleep. She was a great pig, loved cherry tomatoes, spinach and games of pet-the-nose. Our third year in a row at the Beerfest, which was held October 9, 10 & 11. This year we went to the "members-only" Saturday afternoon session with Dr. Amy, her brother Matt and his girlfriend Lauren. We JUST got home on Monday from our honeymoon, which means it's time to update the blog with all the wedding festivities. So today is our last day in Colorado, at least until all wedding-related activities are done! Tomorrow we're driving home to Kansas to start all the festivities! Summer is coming to a close - I can't believe it went by so fast. Friday is my last day interning at Sun Microsystems. I'm really bummed my internship is ending. Climbing 14ers (14,000 foot peaks) is a big deal out here in Colorado. My good friend Amy has summited too many to count.
